There are several ways to clock into Smart Construction from the Office desktop: from the Resource menu in the left navigation, from task detail view, or by using the Time Clock icon in the Power Grid. This article will walk through how to clock in, how to switch between tasks, and how to clock out.
Clocking In:
- To clock in from the left navigation:
a. Click on the Resource icon. b. The Resource Tracking menu opens. Select the Time Clock option. c. The Time Clock dialogue opens. Use the dropdown menus to select a project, task, and cost code for the time entry. Note that at the bottom of the Time Clock it lists the number of hours logged today, this week, and this month. d. Click the Clock In button to continue clocking in. e. A notice stating that the clock in was successful will appear, and the Time Clock panel appears at the top of the screen, displaying the details of the time entry including the amount of time logged. - To clock in from the Power Grid:
a. Click on the Time Clock icon next to the task that time will be logged against.
If the Time Clock icon is not showing, click on the Column Display icon in the header menu, then select the Time - Time Clock column. The column will appear at the far right of the Power Grid--drag and drop it to the left if desired.b. The Time Clock dialogue opens. Project and Task detail will be pre-populated. Change this information if needed by using the dropdown menus. Once all is correct, click the Clock In button. c. A notice stating that the clock in was successful will appear, and the Time Clock panel appears at the top of the screen, displaying the details of the time entry including the amount of time logged. - To clock in from task detail view:
a. Click into the task that time will be logged against to open the detail view. Click the Time Clock icon. b. The Time Clock dialogue opens. Project and Task detail will be pre-populated. Change this information if needed by using the dropdown menus. Once all is correct, click the Clock In button. c. A notice stating that the clock in was successful will appear, and the Time Clock panel appears at the top of the screen, displaying the details of the time entry including the amount of time logged.
Switching Between Tasks:
- Once clocked in, users can switch between tasks, automatically clocking out of one and into the other. This can be done by clicking on the Time Clock icon for the task that will be clocked into--either in Power Grid mode, or by accessing the task detail screen.

The Time Clock dialogue opens displaying the Clock Out Of task (the one that is currently active) and the Clock In To task (the one that will be clocked into). Details for either of these can be modified by using the Edit Details icons. Once all details are correct, click the Clock Out and Clock In button.
Clocking Out:
- To clock out, tap the Time Clock panel at the top of the screen.
- The Time Clock dialogue opens. Check the details of the Task, Project, and Cost Code. To make any changes or add notes, click the Edit Details icon.
- Edit details as needed, then click the Update button to save or the Cancel button to discard changes.
- Click the Clock Out button to clock out.
- A message will appear stating that the clock out was successful, and the Time Clock panel will no longer display at the top of the screen.
