SmartTask geofencing allows geographic zones to be specified on a construction project site drawing and associated with a SmartTask.
- Before adding a geofence to a SmartTask, a site drawing must be associated with the project. Learn more about this at Adding a Geofence to a Project. Once the site drawing is in place, to add a geofence to aSmartTask, click to open the SmartTask.
- The SmartTask opens. The geofence icon indicates that this project has a site drawing. Click on the geofence icon.
- The Task Geofence screen opens. If a project address has been established in the project set up, that location will display by default. If a project location has not yet been defined, the current location of your computer can be used to establish a location by clicking on the Yes option when prompted. To choose another location or perform this manually, click on the No option.
If you chose No, click on the search icon in the upper right to enter a specific location or simply drag, drop and zoom to find the task's location in the map. - Once the task's location has been established, geofences may be added. Click on the "+" button to add a new geofence.
- The Geofence Drawing window opens, offering three ways for a geofence to be drawn: via geometric shape, connecting lines, or as a radius.
a. To draw using the geometric shape option:
Click on the geometric shape icon.
Click on the map to begin placing anchor points for the geometric shape. Anchor points may be deleted by right-clicking on them.
Anchor points may be dragged to adjust the shape and add new anchor points. In this way, natural curves may be achieved in the geofence. Double click to complete the shape.b. To draw using the connecting line option:
Click on the connecting line icon.
Click on the map to begin placing anchor points for the connecting lines geofence. As many points as needed can be added, allowing curves to be achieved in the geofence. Anchor points may be deleted by right-clicking on them.
Double click to close the connecting line shape. Anchor points may be dragged to adjust the shape and add new anchor points.c. To draw using the radius option:
Click on the radius icon.
Click on the map to add the center point of the radius. This point may be deleted by right-clicking it. As the cursor moves away from the center point, the circle will expand. Click at the desired distance from that center point to establish the size of the circle. - Click the Checkmark icon to add this geofence, or click the "X" button to discard it. Geofences may also be discarded by clicking the Clear Geofence button in the left panel of this window, or by clicking on the "X" to the right of the Geofence listing (also in the left panel).
- Follow the same process, clicking the "+" to add any additional geofences needed. Different layers can be turned on or off to guide the creation of geofences. Geofences are listed in the left navigation. Click on any listed geofence to edit it. Click the "X" to the right of any geofence to delete it.
- Click on the Back arrow to exit the Geofence screen and return to the project.
